An Art Journal for the Skies You Want to Remember

2 min read

A grey-blue sky before a summer storm. A peach-coloured sunrise after a sleepless night. A violet evening that belongs to a memory you do not want to lose.

An art journal can hold these small moments without asking you to paint a perfect landscape. A few colours, a date and a feeling may be enough to bring you back.

Begin with a colour, not a perfect picture

Choose three colours from a sky you remember. Use coloured pencils, watercolour or scraps of paper to make a small palette. Leave some of the page untouched: quiet space can be part of the memory.

If your materials might bleed through, try them on a separate sheet first, then attach the finished piece to your journal. You can also use dry pencils or a collage of coloured paper.

Add the details that make it yours

Beside your colours, write the place, the time of day and one sentence about what you noticed. Was the air warm? Were you waiting for someone? Did the light change the way a familiar street looked?

A ticket, a small photograph or a handwritten note can sit in a pocket next to your sky. The page does not need to tell the whole story at once.

A small journaling prompt

Finish this sentence: “The sky was the colour of ___, and I remember ___.” Try it for three different days and see how each page develops its own mood.

At My Vintage Page, journals are made to become a home for your own stories. Explore the handmade journal collection and choose a theme that invites you to begin.

What colour was the sky above one of your favourite memories?
